Odyssey Personal Development and Training offers Counselling for Private or Corporate (employee) provision.
We offer a confidential, caring and professional counselling service for one-to-one, couples or family work.
"The aim of counselling is to provide an opportunity for a client to work towards living in a more satisfying and resourceful way" BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy)
Typically, the kind of issues people may bring to counselling include:
- Relationship problems
- Loss
- Experiences of abuse and trauma
- Feelings of stress
- Out of Control Anger
- Low mood and depression
- Sexuality
- Coping with change
- Eating disorders
- Identity
- Behavioural problems
All of these, along with many other difficulties can have a huge impact on the way in which we experience and operate in our daily lives. Counselling can help people to become more effective, both personally and within their working environment.
We also offer professional, supportive supervision to practising and trainee counsellors, or those who work in emotionally demanding roles. (Education, Health and Social Services, or various Support Services, for example) We thrive on helping you and your practice develop by offering a stimulating, interactive and challenging partnership.
Odyssey Counselling Standards
Odyssey Personal Development & Training operates strictly according to the BACP ethical framework for good practice in counselling and psychotherapy.
The model of counselling used will primarily be 'person-centred', which is a non-directive way of working, using and developing the client's inner resources to explore and resolve issues. When appropriate, other methods of working may be offered, according to assessed need.
All Odyssey Practitioners are professionally qualified and experienced, and receive professional supervision according to BACP recommendations.
Clients will contract for counselling sessions according to individual need, and therapeutic work will be reviewed by counsellor and client at regular intervals (usually 6 weekly). There will be no pressure to attend for more sessions than is felt therapeutically beneficial. 1-1 counselling sessions will be of 50 minutes duration, but in some instances, pre-booked sessions of 90 minutes may be possible. For couples and groupwork, sessions will usually be of 90 minutes duration.
Payment should be made before the session commences and 24 hours notice is required for cancellation. Regrettably, for less than 24 hours notice, the full session fee is payable. We are able to accept payment by Cash, Cheque, Visa/Debit card, Online Bank Transfer, Paypal or Barclay's Pingit.
Counselling is strictly confidential, with the exception of specific issues relating to Child Protection, Risk of Serious Harm to Self and Others and actions defined under the Terrorism Act 2000. These will be clearly outlined to all clients before counselling commences, and will form part of the contract between counsellor and client.
