Margaret Clayton BSc, DipCouns, DipSW
Margaret Clayton founded Odyssey Personal Development and Training Services as she wished to draw together her years of experience in professional counselling practice, managerial and staff development roles and personal development groupwork. She had become aware that there was a real need for employers to be able to access more holistic staff care and development services which could be specifically tailored to the needs of each organisation.
Having developed her career within a variety of business environments, she then moved into the field of Adult Social Care, working with adults with learning disabilities, where she developed her passion for promoting person-centred, empowering ways of working.
After a further period working within the voluntary sector in community development work, Margaret then began working in Children's Services and went on to complete her Social Work and Counselling training. Over the years, she developed, provided, and later managed a variety of therapeutic support services for children and families within residential and community settings. It was during this time that Margaret developed her interest in helping staff teams develop - as both individuals and also as diverse yet harmonious groups.
Margaret worked for several years as a professional counselling practitioner within a large organisation, assisting hundreds of individuals to make the changes necessary to live a more satisfying, healthy, and fulfilling life. She is known for her ability to combine her knowledge and experience with her capacity for warmth and humour to quickly connect with her client or audience. This opens a gateway for increased awareness, development and change. Her positive and down to earth approach enables her to promote a 'feel good factor' in all areas of her work, whilst she also is well-respected for her professional integrity and commitment to high standards of best practice.
The Team
Members of the Odyssey team are selected for their range of experience, and individual professional and personal qualities. All are professionally qualified, and work to high standards of professional practice.
