Odyssey Personal Development & Training operates strictly according to the BACP ethical framework for good practice in counselling and psychotherapy.
The model of counselling used will primarily be 'person-centred', which is a non-directive way of working, using and developing the client's inner resources to explore and resolve issues. When appropriate, other methods of working may be offered, according to assessed need.
All Odyssey Practitioners are professionally qualified and experienced and receive professional supervision according to BACP recommendations.
Clients will contract for counselling sessions according to individual need, and therapeutic work will be reviewed by counsellor and client at regular intervals (usually 6 weekly). Counselling sessions will be of 50 minutes duration.
Counselling is strictly confidential, with the exception of specific issues relating to Child Protection, Risk of Serious Harm to Self and Others, and actions defined under the Terrorism Act 2000. These will be clearly outlined to all clients before counselling commences, and will form part of the contract between counsellor and client.
